Joshua D. Decean
Joshua has a deep love for God and a genuine passion for loving, encouraging, and serving people. For the past eight years, he has faithfully served in Victory Kids here in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in whatever capacity he has been needed.
He is currently finishing his second year teaching theater and arts at Victory Middle & High School, where he pours tremendous effort, creativity, patience, and passion into the school plays and productions throughout the year.
Joshua recently returned from his second mission trip with Victory Church, serving in the Dominican Republic during Spring Break. Seven years earlier, he also had the opportunity to minister in Peru on a mission trip to South America.
Whether serving locally in the United States or ministering internationally, Joshua desires to be the hands and feet of Jesus wherever God calls him. We are so thankful for the way he is impacting lives, shaping culture, and making a difference for the Kingdom of God.
Seeds of Hope
in Santo Domingo
Thank you for giving to my Dominican Republic Mission Trip!
Without your support, I would not have had this opportunity. We ministered in the city of Santo Domingo from March 15th to 22nd. This was my first time in Central America. I am currently teaching at Victory Christian School, and I went with my senior students and a handful of students from other schools. This trip was filled with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and the theme of our trip was allowing God to use us no matter the circumstance. We saw miracles while we were there and are still believing for miracles that we didn't see instantly when we prayed for them.
We went to schools, parks, and baseball fields ministering through testimonies and skits that reflected the Gospel. We welcomed those present to receive Jesus through the salvation prayer. At each place we stayed between 20 minutes and 2 hours, and made sure that a seed was planted in every location. The enemy tried to discourage the team with sickness, rain, or cancellations, but we would not be deterred. We made sure to trust in God to do His work.
During the week, we invited all of the people to a stadium for a Crusade on Friday.
The Crusade was packed with many people. We were able to count at every site the number of people we ministered to, but the Crusade was too numerous to count. We had worship, preaching, and dramas to speak life into the people of the Dominican Republic. Stories of blind eyes, back pain, and lame walking were filling the neighborhoods.
One story in particular was such a miracle. We ministered at a baseball field, and a little boy asked my team to pray for his mom. His mom had been in an accident, and her leg was completely shattered. His mom was at home while we prayed with him, so they prayed on the field that God would restore her leg so she could walk. At the same time, another part of my team saw a house and asked if the residents needed prayer for anything. It just so happened that a mom had injured her leg and needed healing.
The team prayed, and the mom began to fully walk. When the team met up and compared notes, they realized that both of their stories were exactly the same. All the details lined up with how the accident and situation happened. The mom was the same mom who had been in an accident and damaged her leg. We were so excited knowing that after the boy had baseball practice, he would be able to go home to see his mom walking on two feet. Glory to God!
This trip was extraordinary.
I have so many stories of how these seniors poured their hearts out to the Dominican Republic. Anytime someone complained, they readjusted their focus and remembered that God always has a plan. I was so proud of how the seniors loved the kids of the Dominican Republic. They made sure to share Christ’s love.
A love that shows the only way to everlasting life is through a relationship with Jesus Christ. I was honored to Team Lead a group of students who shared the Gospel with a burning passion. I am so grateful for Jesus, my family, Victory Church, all of you, and the students of Victory who made this experience possible. When you say yes to Christ, there is no telling what can happen.
